Aims of the project: Six departments from four Institutes of ASCR and two Universities join together in Advanced materials multidisciplinary research center. The centre will focus on complex investigation of ultrafine-grained (UFG) materials (prepared by advanced methods, such as severe plastic deformation and plasma technologies), functionally graded materials (prepared by plasma spraying), coated light-metal based composites, and functional materials with martensitic transformation. The investigation will focus on the structural stability, plastic behaviour and relations between UFG structure and phase transformations, the effect of reinforcements in composites and the influence of microstructure on magnetic shape memory effect. By combining the light metals and shape memory materials new advanced light composites with additional functionality and new generation of functionally graded materials will be prepared. Center members will share their expertise, unique experimental facilities and contribute to the extension of scientific abilities of students and young researchers.
