Aims of the project: The project focuses on non-equilibrium kinetics of streamer discharges in N2-O2 mixtures using advanced numerical modelling of streamers including induced vibrational kinetics of excited states and cutting-edge experimental techniques based on the ICCD microscopy, classical and TC-SPC coupled emission spectroscopy, and laser diagnostics applied with high temporal and spatial resolution. The project aims to: 1) contribute to understanding of the influence of non-equilibrium kinetics on the population of vibrational states of the excited singlet, triplet and quintet states of N2. 2) define a minimal set of predominant processes necessary for modelling of vibrational kinetics and ensuring convergence of numerical and experimental results. 3) reveal the development of the ground state as well as excited atoms of N and O in the streamer. 4) determine the influence of spatio-temporal integrations in the applied optical diagnostics on the interpretation of experimental data, e.g. on the estimation of radial distribution of electrons, excited states and electric field.
